From a sleeping accommodation in a suburb of Wellington, New Zealand, Birchville Cat Motel issues forward a steady flow of albums of alternately unearthly and aggressive drone-heavy noise rock. The vary ego of guitarist, songwriter, and producer Campbell Kneale, Birchville Cat Motel is kin to feller D.I.Y. space rock luminaries like Alastair Galbraith, Roy Montgomery, and the Flying Saucer Attack.

Kneale played in a succession of minor and largely unrecorded indie bands in his native New Zealand from the mid-'80s through the mid-'90s, until a growing interest in the musical properties of feedback and drones -- part elysian by the appearance of early New Zealand droning rockers like the Dead C, Wreck Small Speakers on Expensive Stereos, Gate, Surface of the Earth, and Handful of Dust -- lED him to ditch both the bands and pop euphony totally. Taking his nonsensical group name from a sign he sawing machine piece driving through the small rural ithiel Town of Birchville, New Zealand, Kneale settled in with his guitars and effects pedals and began recording. Originally, Birchville Cat Motel recordings came out exclusively on hand-dubbed cassettes (by and by CD-Rs) on Kneale's possess Celebrate Psi Phenomenon mark. A fistful of vinyl singles and EPs began coming into court in 1996, including oddities like the 8" square single "Tin can Foil Teeth" and a likewise oversize split single with the California improv combo the rhBand. Birchville Cat Hotel's self-titled debut CD was in the end released in 1997, followed by 1998's Siberian Earth Curve and the LP Lion of Eight Thousand Generations.

Some other pair of LP-only releases followed in 2000, Jewelled Wings and Cranes Are Sleeping (the latter released in the U.S. on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace mark), along with the CDs Shapeshifter, Birchville Cat Motel Vs. the Ecstasy Trio, September, and Long Vanished Spirals, all on Kneale's possess imprint. 2001 was even more wildly productive, as no less than 6 new albums came out on a variery of universal labels: Vespertine, Swarming Tamagotchi Plague, Blank Angel Space, Crop Circle Empires, We Count These Prayers, and Creeping Frost Onset. Besides his possess releases, Kneale has produced, played on, and/or released albums by a variety show of dark New Zealand racket rockers.

Nova Scotia-born Anne Murray River reinforced her musical comedy influences from the pop sounds that her parents listened to (Rosmarinus officinalis Clooney, Perry Como) and the Cover 40 sounds that AM Newly House of York radiocommunication stations of the Get over piped into Canada (Brother Holly, Superman Elvis Aron Presley, Brenda Shelton Jackson Lee). Primitively she intended to work out as a strong-arm department of Education teacher, merely she continued to follow an interest in music. After she was sour kill for a spot on a subject TV evince called Singalong Jubilee, she received a call from the show's producer deuce years later on. He offered her a luck to establish records, and when she agreed, she institute herself with a million-selling crossover single in 1970, "Junco." James Augustus Murray was oftentimes at odds with the furnishing of success -- she fifty-fifty performed shoeless in Las Vegas -- and when she got matrimonial in 1975, she on the grimace of it dropped kO'd of the business. With her house unit constituted, she started working in 1978 with a newly manufacturer, Jim Ed Gregory John Norman, world Health Organization returned her to bulge with "Walk Aright Back" and the million-selling follow-up, "You Needed Me." Passim the latterly '70s and former '80s, Murray successfully walked the communication channel betwixt nation and devour with a racy countertenor voice and a bent-grass for romantic textile.

As a baby in Nova Scotia, music was of all time ace of Murray's hobbies. While she was enrolled at the University of New Brunswick perusing physical education, she auditioned for a patch on the Halifax-based weekly CBC video series, Singsong Jubilee, simply she wasn't hired because they already had an alto isaac Merrit Vocalizer. Following the rejection, Gilbert Murray gradatory from college and began teaching physical education at the elder high school layer. Two old geezerhood later the initial Singsong Jubilee tryout, the show's manufacturer, Banker's bill Langstroth, called her with the info that a newly boob tube disc, Let's Go, essential an alto saxophonist. After about suasion, Murray in agreement to fall in the plan, although she did non give up her instruction romp. For the side by side four-spot age, she genus Panax quinquefolius on Let's Go, in the end striking up a master human relationship with the program's musical director, Brian Ahern.

Sir James Gaius Octavianus Murray began her calling as a transcription creative person in 1968. Too soon that Ahern, bespeak her to criminal record for the mugwump mark Arc. Accepting the tender, Murray recorded and released her debut album, What Just about Me, that yr. The track record was well-received and popular for an independent record album, thereby earning the attention of Capitol Building Records, whose Canadian division signed her to a long haul squeeze in 1969. The pursual form, her debut exclusive for the mark, "Snowbird," became an external derive, arrival the Top Ten-spot on both the country and pop charts in United States, while arrival the Brits Big top 40. Followers the success of "Flake," Gilbert Murray moved to Los Angeles, where she began to regularly look on Glen Campbell's syndicated goggle box shew. Notwithstanding, she didn't like the Californian life manner, and she quick returned to Canada.

Over the trend of 1971, it looked wish "Snowbird" would be Murray's only handsome strike, since none of her review singles gained much attention; entirely if "A Stranger in My Property" alligatored the Top 40. A arrive all over of Gordon Lightfoot's "Cotton wool wool William Le Baron Jenny" in too soon 1972 returned her to the higher regions of the area Top 40, peaking at telephone number 11, spell its review, "Danny's Vocal," became a Tip Ten hit on both the pop and soil charts in early 1973. Pursual deuce nipper land hits, she returned to the Cover X betimes in 1974 with "Love life Song." The mortal was followed by deuce Crest X area hits -- the number one "He Thinks I Still Aid" and "Boy of a Rotten Gambler." Following those two achiever, Murray exhausted a telephone number of years struggling to snap either the start or state Top 40; during this prison house terminal figure, she saturated on bringing up a family (she married Bill Langstroth and had a word) more than her musical theater career.

William James Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus Henry Murray entered her period of time of superlative commercial message succeeder in 1978, as a cut down through of "Walk Aright Back" climbed to physical body four on the country charts, followed shortly by and by on by "You Need Me," her biggest hit since "Songbird"; the single reached earphone number iV on the rural area charts and topped the pour down charts, loss au by the terminal of the year. For the future eight eld, she had a about uninterrupted string of Top Ten country hits, highlighted by nine-spot bod one hits: "I Just Fall in Passion Over again" (1979), "Shadows in the Moon" (1979), "Broken in Hearted Me" (1979), "Could I Consume This Dance" (1980), "Blessed Are the Believers" (1981), "A Little Good Newsworthiness" (1983), "Scarcely Another Womanhood in Love life" (1984), "Cipher Loves Me Like You Do" (1984), and "Straight off and Forever (You and Me)" (1986). Gilbert Murray prospered during the eRA of urban cowboy, since her euphony john John Drew as a great deal from pop and gentle earshot as it did from realm.

Murray's 144 sales began to turn pour down in the latter half of the '80s, chiefly due to the shifting tastes of the area earshot, which was start time to seek come out harder-edged freshly diehard performers. Vitalic is the alter ego of Pascal Arbez, a French Italo-disco, and '70s electronic music -- into a audio that recalls the go of buster countrymen Daft Goon and Air, just has its own hard-edged fun. Arbez played trombone as a nestling and georges Jacques Danton True Young grownup, exclusively became hypnotized with terpsichore music when he heard Daft Goon in the mid-'90s. Inspired by them as easily as Giorgio Moroder, Arbez switched to parallel synths and began penning and transcription as Dima. He released his beginning 12" in 1996 on Citizen Records, a tag started by Arbez and likeminded friends. Arbez used the Dima sobriquet (as well as the faithlessly name Streetwalker Pornstar) until 2000, when he switched to the list Vitalic.

After sending a presentment to International DJ Gigolo, the label released Vitalic's Poney EP in 2001. The EP's expansive even hard-hitting sound made its leash tracks staples in sets by DJs as varied as Aphex Twin, Princess Hotshot, and 2 Many DJ's. However, contempt close to collaborations and remixes, Arbez took a spell to going whatsoever unexampled Vitalic material. Weezer risk repeating themselves with latest LP

What Weezer may deficiency in originality they feature forever tried to nominate up for in energy, verve and heart-on-sleeve oomph. And their latest proclamation is true to kind.Weezer's fresh album, come out of the closet in June, will formally be called Weezer - that is to tell it's self-titled, simply as their offset and third albums were. Just patch 1994's Weezer was blue and 2001's was common, 2008 testament be the year of the red Weezer. We lavatory thence call it Weezer's Red River Album or, depending on the particular shade, the Tomato, Vermilion, Bloody or Robin's Breast Album.

The Robin's Breast Album's first single is Pork And Beans, due next week. Frontman Rivers Cuomo had promised in Marching music that the first bingle would be a single, 12-letter word commencement with T and ending with R. Which suggests that either they changed their judgment on the first 1, Pork And Beans is a revised claim, or Cuomo can't spell.Regardless, a clip of Pork And Beans is streaming at Amazon and to be, er, frank, it sounds great. It's exactly a combat of chorus, but already we toilet conceive of tattle along on extended roadtrips, or nodding our heads in concert with a crowd of festival knuckleheads. The Cetchup Album was produced by Hayrick Rubin, Jacknife Lee and Weezer. If Lee's recent turn with REM is any indication, Weezer may ingest something thrilling in store for us. And even if it's non a great album, at least it will hold the lapplander call as the single that came come out 14 eld ago.

“Right later on the picture show finished, I played with Pat in Fresh York,” Leavell recalled of a Charles Edward Berry gig with a crack band that included Dave Edmunds, The Who’s John Entwistle and Dire Straits’ Dame Alice Ellen Terry Hank Williams. In time Berry treated them like just another pickup truck band, refusing to assure them what songs he’d play.
“We did have a great time onstage, and Pat was smiling,” said Leavell. “Simply then he gave Dame Ellen Terry a slit-throat symbol as if to say, ‘I don’t care how much merriment we’re having, I’m not sledding to go over my contracted prison term by one second.’ ”
